Endangered
The button wrinklewort (Rutidosis leptorhynchoides) is a native perennial daisy, largely restricted in Victoria to a small number (11) of native grassland sites on the Volcanic Plain. Losses have occurred through extensive land clearing and the introduction of sheep grazing
Major threats
- Declines in fire frequency reduces habitat quality
- Lack of genetic diversity
- Weed invasion and physical disturbance
Key actions
- Maintain regular burning regimes to ensure appropriate habitat structure
- Undertake genetic testing to identify populations in need of intervention
- Protect sites from soil disturbance and control emerging weeds
